I am a historian of Britain and the World based at the University of York. I teach and write about the history of modern Britain with a focus on cultural history, urban history, race and the environment. I am the author of two books, Foundations: How the Built Environment Made Twentieth-Century Britain which was published by Princeton University Press in 2020 and Liverpool and the Un-Making of Britain to be published by Head of Zeus/Bloomsbury in 2025.
