I am a historian of Britain and the World based at the University of York. I teach and write about the history of modern Britain with a focus on cultural history, urban history, race and the environment. My first book Foundations: How the Built Environment Made Twentieth-Century Britain is now available with Princeton University Press. I am currently writing a history of Liverpool since 1945.
